Tadeas Podracky is an experimental designer who seeks to create authenticity in our surroundings. He holds a Master’s Degree in Contextual Design from the Design Academy Eindhoven, Netherlands, and a second Master’s Degree from the Academy of Art Architecture and Design, Czechia. He also completed internships at the Fine Art studio at the School of Visual Arts New York, USA and the Monumental Sculpture studio at the Academy of Fine Arts, Czechia.

Through extensive material research, questioning craft heritage, and strong hands-on making, Tadeas proposes a new methodology of design that explores expression, destruction, and individuality. His practice aims to break down the established principles of “good” design to create new possibilities and accentuate the multi-layered identities of contemporary individuals. His intricate and otherworldly sculptural vocabulary combined with the use of traditional relief carving techniques, situates his practice as one dedicated to giving materials and design norms new life. The Morana Chair is born out of the designer’s research into folklore and festivals surrounding the seasons, with this furniture piece the artist questions what our designed environments would reflect if we abided by such lore today.
