JAMESPLUMB
Founded in London in 2009 by ar tists Hannah Plumb and James Russell, JAMESPLUMB is a creative studio that seamlessly blends art and design. The duo met over two decades ago at Wimbledon School of Art, where they studied Fine Art Sculpture and graduated in 2003. In 2022, they relocated to the Shropshire Hills, continuing their international work from this inspiring new base.
JAMESPLUMB specialises in crafting both objects and environments.Their objects range from sculptures and furniture to fine art installations, showcased in galleries and at international fairs.Their environments include interior, event, and architectural design, as well as creative direction for commercial and residential projects. These projects, both permanent and ephemeral, include homes, retail spaces, one-room hotels, and bespoke events. They collaborate with global brands and private individuals alike.
Renowned for their highly theatrical and poetic creations, JAMESPLUMB draw inspiration from their differing but complementary views on materials and processes. They share a passion for found objects, the meticulously handmade, the imperfect, and the time-worn.Their aesthetic embraces unorthodox beauty, the allure of accidental geometry, and the interruption of perfection. Captivated by objects shaped by time, they believe total permanence is unattainable.Their work is enriched with the patina of time and life, and they admire the obsessively handmade and time-consuming.They instinctively reject mass-produced items, conventional perfection, and superficial attractions. Drawn to pieces in perpetual evolution, they explore the space between design and art, creating functional artworks and non-functional furniture.
JAMESPLUMB have exhibited across the UK and internationally, including Berlin, Milan, Geneva, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Hangzhou.
