Jesse Schlesinger

Jesse Schlesinger is an artist and designer based in San Francisco, California. He works across a wide range of media, all of which he has applied experience: wood, bronze, ceramic, glass, steel, concrete, paint. The sculptures, installations, and design objects exemplify the dramatic scale of the natural landscape of California, utilizing materials that are, for the most part, derived locally. It also bears the mark of the creative legacy of the Bay Area, while simultaneously deriving significant aesthetic influence from his extensive travels in Japan.

Labor, craft, and process are key to his practice: he was raised in the trades alongside his carpenter father and taught alongside a Zen monk and master of traditional Japanese timber framing. He spent a formative period in his 20’s working on a small-scale organic farm, an experience that would influence his perspective on materials and environment.

He is represented by Anthony Meier in Mill Valley, California and Gallery FUMI in London. With Anthony Meier, he has received recognition for both a solo presentation at Frieze LA in 2024 and a 2-person exhibition at the gallery in 2025. In early 2025 he completed his first permanent public art installation for the city of San Francisco, and will complete a second in 2026.
