Chidima Odonsi, Nigeria Miniature

Named after a Nigerian hairstylist in Cape Town known to the artist, in reference to its origins as a Yoruba hairstyle. Traditionally reserved for wives of royalty, its simplicity made it less time consuming to make. Known by different traditional names such as the Beri Beri, this hairstyle is now worn by women of all stations and ages – perhaps most famously by Beyonce in her 2020 film Black Is King.
