Poul Kjaerholm, a qualified cabinetmaker who completed his studies at the Danish School of Arts and Crafts, was particularly interested in building materials, particularly steel, which he believed deserved the same artistic respect as to wood.
In 1955, Poul Kjrholm began working with furniture maker Ejvind Kold Christensen; their cooperation lasted the rest of Kjrholm’s life, and the two families are still close.
The Kjrholm trustees entrusted Fritz Hansen with the manufacture and selling of “The Kjrholm Collection,” which consists of designs created by Poul Kjrholm between 1951 and 1967, two years after the designer’s passing.
Poul Kjaerholm’s furniture is distributed to architects and private clients worldwide through Fritz Hansen, who is honored to carry on production today.
